Lawless

Shia LeBouf and Tom Hardy star in this film about the days of running moonshine in Tennessee during prohibition.

The movie is set in the early 1930's and the film does a great job of making it feel authentic.  Jack Bondurant and his brothers Forrest and Howard run the family shine business with understanding from the local sheriff. Things don't turn ugly until the brothers decide not to give into the new county District Attorney and his Special Deputy Charles Rakes who are looking for a cut of the profits.

While protecting the family business, Jack who was considered the quiet, scared one sets up a larger operation and starts to rake in some money. He uses this to show off and try and impress the off limits daughter of a local preacher.

Of course, this all leads to a final showdown for which I will not spoil. It is a good movie, though I always expected Jack to take matters into his own hands a bit earlier in the film.
